What are the methods of rhinoplasty in Iran?

There are generally two methods for rhinoplasty in Iran. Today, plastic and cosmetic surgeons use both surgical methods. But because the expectations for the results of rhinoplasty are much higher than in the past, and many nasal problems can only be treated through open surgery, surgeons usually use more open surgery.

Usually, in the first consultation session that the rhino surgeon has with the patient, after the initial examination, he decides what method he should use for the surgery, but it is not discussed definitively.

Closed nose job

One of the cosmetic surgery methods that were used more in the past and are less used today is closed surgery. In this method, all surgical procedures are performed from the internal parts and incisions that are made inside the nose and through the nasal cavities. In this method, the nasal hump is removed. The nasal bone is repaired, the cartilage returns to normal, but there is some limitation to the repair of the tip of the nose.

Although the duration of surgery is shorter, access to the tip of the nose and the changes that the surgeon is considering may not be good. Another advantage of this method is that the skin incision is not made on the nose.

Open nose job

But the second method, which today more than 90% of rhinoplasty is performed in this way, is an open rhinoplasty. In this method, the skin of the nose is cut from the columella area (middle septum of the nose) and the skin is removed from the underlying tissue, which is cartilage. From that skin returns to its previous place.

In this method, a skin incision is made, but the surgeon has access and vision to all the different parts that he intends to deform is much more open.
